Students will explore African Civilization from the Pre-Columbus time frame. For example students will examine the Western African Empire Mali.
Europeans encounter the world. During this lesson students will explore the Moor occupation of Spain and the Reconquest of Hispania from the Moors.
Students will be exposed to the Trans -Sahara Trade route and the Transatlantic Trade routes and the foundation of the American Slave Empire that exploited the African people for the production of "cash crops."
Students will discover some the art, poetry, music and philosophy of the "New Negro" movement created during the period 1916 - 1929
Students will discuss the causes of the Civil Rights movement. Student will learn about court cases, policies, leaders and the organizations formed to gain Civil Rights in the United States of America.
Student will examine current historic figure in various fields such as arts, entertainment, politics, education, and the sciences.
